NMSDC-certified MBE to be Seated with Mrs. Obama at the State of the Union Address

First Lady Michelle Obama invited Andra Rush, founder and chairperson of The Rush Group and an NMSDC Corporate Plus® member, to sit in her box at the State of the Union Address on Tuesday, January 28. Ms. Rush, a descendant of the Mohawk Tribe from the Six-Nation Reservation, leads one of the country’s largest Native American-owned businesses. Rush Group includes Rush Trucking, Dakkota Integrated Systems and Detroit Manufacturing Systems, a two-year-old firm created from a joint venture with Faurecia. The Detroit-based company manufactures and assembles automotive interior components and added more than 600 employees in its first year of operations—making it the largest new manufacturing employer in the City of Detroit in decades. According to a White House press release, Ms. Rush and the other guests seated with the First Lady represent the stories of millions of Americans across the country who are working hard to better their communities, improve their own economic outcomes and help restore opportunity for all.
